This is a great alternative to the classic apple pie, made with white flour, eggs, dairy and a lot of sugar. This recipe it’s not only for those who eat a raw-vegan diet, but also for those who plan on eating clean, natural meals.
Our apple pie contains only fresh/dried fruits and seeds. All ingredients are 100% natural and easily accesible for anyone.
This dessert is healthy and nourishing, due to the high content of vitamins, minerals and fiber, so it can replace a meal – either breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s definitely an inspired choice for children.
♣ Raw vegan apple pie – recipe
For the crust
• 1 ½ cups raw sunflowers seeds
• ¾ cup raisins
• 1 tablespoon carob or coca powder
For the apple layer:
• 4 apples
• 1 tablespoon honey/maple or agave syrup
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
• a few tablespoons of grinded oat flakes
For the decor:
• 50 g coconut flakes
• 1 handful of dried fruits (raisins, cranberries, blackberries, sour cherries, goji berry)
For the crust, mix the sunflower seeds în a blender until they become flour. Add the raisins and the carob powder.
Grate the apples and squeeze the extra juice. Use that juice to help the blender work. Mix until homogeneous.
Transfer the mix on a round plate or a tray and, smooth with a spatula and give it a nice round shape.
For the apple filling, mix the grated apples with the rest of ingredients and place it on top of the crust. Smoothe it with a wide blaze knife or a spatula.
To make the pie mor attractive, sprinkle the coconut flakes on top and decorate with dried fruits using your sense of creativity.
Place the pie in the freezer for at least 2 hours, to firm. Cut it like a cake. It won’t freeze.
Store it in the frigde. It will last up to a week.
