But what happens during digestion? The food one eats is partially digested in the stomach. Afterward, the food is delivered to the small intestine. At this point, the enzymes aim at releasing the beneficial nutrients from the food, so that the body absorbs them. Next, the food passes into the colon, being further converted into feces. When a person suffers from an irregular bowel movement, the stool remains in the colon for a while, becoming harder and dry. Concurrently, severe constipation is linked to high intake of laxatives and inappropriate hydration. The following home remedies can be helpful for people suffering from acute constipation.

  • Castor oil

Castor oil is one of the highly acknowledged homemade remedies for acute constipation. It includes particular compounds that support proper bowel movement. Hence, just taking one teaspoon of castor oil on an empty stomach will make a world of a difference.

It’s genuinely important to drink plenty of water right afterward. The oil will contribute to the loosening of the hard stool, and will support the elimination. Nonetheless, this remedy is recommended for patients with severe irregular bowel movement, suffering from acute constipation.

  • Lemon

Lemon is a fantastic remedy for constipation. All you have to do is drink a glass of warm water to which you must add the juice of an organic lemon. Alternatively, add a teaspoon of organic honey, and a pinch of rock salt.

You should drink this first thing in the morning, and in the evening as well. It’s ok to stick to this remedy until your bowel movement is regulated. Honey combined with lemon will contribute to softening the impacted stool and stimulating elimination.

  • Water

Water is, by all means, the simplest, most obvious remedy against constipation. Not only is water vital for supporting your body’s right functioning, but proper hydration contributes to maintaining your digestive tract in order as well. Have a copper vessel filled with water, and let it stay overnight. Next day, make sure you hydrate accordingly by drinking the entire quantity.

  • Isabgol

Isabgol is loaded with beneficial dietary fiber, which enlarges the stool, and contributes to the elimination. For this remedy, combine one tablespoon of isabgol with a glass of hot milk, and drink the content before bedtime.

  • Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds encompass critical levels of omega three fatty acids, paired up with a range of additional beneficial compounds, contributing to the health of the digestive tract. Simultaneously, they have a natural laxative effect and stimulate a healthy bowel movement. Make sure to have two tablespoons of flaxseeds per day, and keep constipation at bay.
