Guava Leaves and Vanilla Extract for Wisdom Tooth Pain

The development of the wisdom teeth starts at the age of 17 and continues until the age of 25. However, there are persons who develop wisdom teeth later in life. They are also known as the 3rd molars and sometimes, they don’t have enough space in the oral cavity to grow properly. For example, they can grow under the gum, causing impacted wisdom tooth, manifested through irritation and swelling of the gums and lots of pain. Other symptoms are headaches, difficulty in chewing and biting food and bad breath. You should consult a dentist as soon as possible if you suffer from continuous pain. To get relief from the pain until you reach the dentist, you can try one of the following natural remedies.

Guava Leaves

These natural products are great for offering relief from the pain. They contain quercetin, a bioflavonoid that has antispasmodic properties. Guava leaves also have analgesic, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Use tender guava leaves and chew 1 or 2 of them. Let them release their juice and in an instant, the wisdom tooth pain will disappear. You could also boil about 6 guava leaves in 1 glass of water for 5 minutes. After it has boiled, you can strain the liquid and once it’s cooled, you can utilize it as mouthwash. Use it twice a day to get relief from the wisdom tooth pain.

Sage

This natural pain reliever is extremely efficient when it comes to alleviating the wisdom tooth pain. It has anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties and can also cure bleeding gums, mouth sores and gingivitis. Use dried sage and crush it. Mix 2 teaspoons of the plant with salt (1 teaspoon) and pour vodka or whisky over the mixture. Let it soak for 5 minutes and then use the solution as a mouthwash. Use this treatment twice or thrice daily, until the pain disappears.

Vanilla Extract

This is an unusual natural remedy to wisdom tooth pain. Vanilla extract has antioxidant properties and low levels of alcohol. Due to these qualities, the vanilla extract will immediately numb the pain. Apply about 4 drops of vanilla extract on a small cotton ball. Apply the cotton ball on the affected tooth for 2 – 3 minutes. Repeat the remedy thrice a day, until the pain disappears completely. Do not confuse vanilla extract with vanilla essence that’s used for baking and cooking. Vanilla extract can be found at the healthy food stores.

Clove

Cloves reduce all sorts of toothaches, including wisdom tooth pain. It has analgesic and anesthetic properties and can instantly numb the pain. It can also prevent infections due to its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. You can use clove oil and clove buds to get rid of the pain. Pour some clove oil on a cotton ball and apply it on the affected tooth and gum. Use this remedy 2 – 3 times daily. You can dilute the clove oil with olive oil if it’s too strong for you. Alternatively, you can use whole cloves. Put 2 or 3 of them near the aching tooth and wait until it releases its essential oil. You will soon feel the pain disappear.
