Macerated Plums Balance Your Immune and Nervous Systems

This very easy recipe can be extremely useful to all those suffering from nervous system disorders, anemia and fatigue and any other condition caused by a weak immune system.

Plums contain vitamin B6, which transmits the nerve signals and helps in the proper functioning of the nervous system. These fruits also help to the optimal development of the brain and the formation of the hormones responsible for our mood.

These fruits are also rich in the essential amino acid called tryptophan, which is responsible for the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter important for concentration, mood, sleep and appetite. Plums can also help in treating anxiety thanks to the chlorogenic acid they contain.

How to macerate plums?

This solution acts as a tonic for all  body systems, such as the immune system or nervous system. It is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, helping the body fight inflammation and infection.

You need:

  • 150 grams of plums
  • 90° alcohol
  • sugar syrup

Wash the plums and take out their seeds. Put the flesh of the plums in a glass jar, pour alcohol until you fill the jar and put the lid on. Let them soak overnight. The next day, prepare a syrup made of sugar and water. If you use fresh plums, mix 300 g of sugar with 200 ml of water. If you use dried plums, reduce the amount of sugar to 100g (200 ml water). Bring the water to a boil and then let it cool. Add sugar and stir until the granules are completely dissolved. Pour the resulting syrup over the macerated plums, mix well and put the lid on. Let it stay for two weeks in a dark place, shaking the jar occasionally. After that, you can transfer the macerate in glass bottles and keep them in the fridge.

You can consume macerated plums by mixing them with water. Put 30 ml of macerated fruits into a cup of water and drink three times a day after each meal.   

Plums do not contain saturated fats and are low in calories. They also hold numerous health promoting compounds, such as vitamins and minerals. The isatin and sorbitol are two dietary fibers that help regulate the digestive system and constipation. Fresh plums contain high amounts of Vitamins A and C, as well as beta-carotene. These will keep your skin healthy, improve your eyesight and prevent several types of cancer.

The iron in plums is needed for red cells formation, while potassium is an important part of cell and body substances which control the blood pressure and the heart rate.
