Herbal Tincture for Cleansing and Healing the Liver (Recipe)

Most of the nutritionists believe that people should care more about their liver because it’s a vital organ and our health depends on it. So, we should call on plants to invigorate and cleanse our liver from time to time.

– Turmeric, ginger, dandelion leaves, liquorice root, burdock root, thistle and hawthorn fruits

For a better effect, you can mix all of these plants and prepare them into a tincture. The alcoholic tinctures are always recommended because some of the plants are strong and powerful and the alcohol will soak and macerate them. Moreover, the alcohol will improve the plants’ effects and will help their active substances get straight to the liver and carry out their healing properties.

If you don’t have alcohol, you can also use apple cider vinegar or glycerin, but bear in mind that these won’t be as efficient as the alcohol.

Liver Tincture – Recipe

Ingredients

  • – Ginger
  • – Turmeric
  • – Liquorice
  • – Burdock roots
  • – Dandelion leaves
  • – Thistle seeds
  • – Hawthorn fruits
  • – St John’s Wort
  • – Vodka (80-90 degrees)

Preparation

All these plants must be dry. You can get them from the healthy food stores. Fill ¾ of a glass jar with these plants. Use equal quantities of each. Add the vodka and make sure the liquid covers them. Close the jar tightly and keep it in a dark and cool place for about 2 – 6 weeks. Shake the jar every day. After this period, you can strain the tincture and keep it in small glass bottles with lids. If you keep the tincture in a dark and cool place, you can use it for about 2 or 3 years.

Administration

Take half of a teaspoon 3 or 4 times per day for 3 or 6 months. If the liver is affected because of the pills, antibiotics etc., you can take a few drops 1 or 2 times per day for 2 years.
