Food Allergies – Causes, Symptoms and Home Remedies
Contents
Food allergies are a universal and widespread medical condition that most individuals suffer from. The food allergies are usually caused by intolerance to one or more of the proteins found in the food. Basically, your body will feel that a particular protein is harmful. In order to protect itself from this dangerous compound, the immune system is going to attack the invader, causing that allergic reaction. Some of the most common symptoms are dermatitis, throat swelling, headaches, vomiting or nausea, sneezing and runny nose, itching of the gums, tongue, lips or mouth and skin rash and hives.
The common food allergens are soy, peanuts, shellfish, seeds, seafood, milk and eggs. The best solution to get rid of the allergy is to eliminate the allergenic food from your diet. However, there are still a few remedies that can help you reduce the food allergy symptoms.
Bananas
Bananas contain numerous nutrients and can reduce the symptoms associated with allergic reactions. For example, bananas regulate the metabolism of the body, reduce the stomach discomfort and offer relief from skin rashes. You won’t cure a food allergy with bananas, but you will be able to reduce its severity.
Foods with Vitamin E
The foods that have a high content of vitamin E are broccoli, tofu, olive oil, spinach, rainbow trout, almonds, shrimp, avocados and sunflower seeds. Consume them if you suffer from a food allergy because vitamin E has powerful anti-allergenic properties. At the same time, it boosts the immune system and it makes it stronger so as to stop it from falsely recognizing various proteins as harmful.
Vitamin C
As mentioned before, a defective immune system is the main cause for the food allergies. So as to strengthen your immune system, you need to increase your vitamin C intake and the main sources for this nutrient are the vegetables and the fruits. However, before adding these fruits and vegetables to your diet, make sure that you are not allergic to any of them.
Limes
The lime juice, in particular, is a powerful detoxifying solution that will clean your organism, which is exactly what you need when you suffer from a food allergy. Mix the lime juice with honey and water and consume the beverage for a couple of weeks so as to flush out all the toxins. This way, your immune system will be less confused when it comes to your protein digestion.
Cucumber and Carrot Juice
This combination is extremely effective in treating food allergies. The cucumber and the carrot contain anti-allergenic components that will immediately reduce the allergy symptoms. Always drink this juice while it’s fresh and continue the treatment for a few weeks.
Activated Charcoal
Most food allergies are triggered because the stomach is unable to break down the food proteins. So, a good treatment is to consume substances that will help the stomach digest those proteins. This is one of the roles of the activated charcoal. Mix one or two of these tablets (60 g) with sweetened juice or water and consume the solution to regulate the functions of your digestive system and get rid of the food allergy.
