How to Make Soy Milk
As already mentioned, it is not a difficult process. To start, you will need these ingredients and materials:
- 1 cup of raw soybeans
- 11 cups of water
- ¼ cup of sugar
- Large bowl
- Measuring cup
- Cheesecloth
- A large stainless steel pot
- Container
- Wooden spoon
In order to make the best soy milk, these procedures need to be followed carefully:
- Place the soybeans in the large bowl and add 2 cups of water, covering them.
- Let the soybeans soak for about 8 hours (overnight) before transferring the contents in a blender. Once you add 4 cups of water, blend the ingredients until the result is smooth.
- In the sink, put a large bowl and cover it with the cheesecloth.
- Pour the contents of the blender into the cheesecloth, and slowly lift the corners. Squeeze as much liquid as you can from the cheesecloth.
- Pour the resulting liquid into a large stainless steel pot.
- Put the remaining pulp from the cheesecloth back in the blender and add 3 cups of water. Once again, blend until the mixture is smooth.
- Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5.
- Once more, add the remaining pulp in the blender and add 2 more cups of water, coming to your total of 11 cups. Again, blend until the mixture has a smooth texture.
- Perform 3, 4 and 5 again.
- Place the stainless steel pot on the stove and let the contents boil over medium heat while stirring with the wooden spoon. Once it’s boiling, lower the heat and remove the excess foam with the wooden spoon. Let it boil 2-3 more minutes before turning off the heat.
- Add ¼ cup of sugar (or how much you like, depending on your taste) and let it cool. You can add flavors such as vanilla, honey or strawberry. Place the milk in a container and store it in your refrigerator.
Making your own soy milk not only gives you the satisfaction of a job well done, but it also allows you to be healthier by avoiding the market products filled with additives.
