We use toothpaste each day to brush our teeth and maintain our oral health by removing food debris and bacteria from our teeth.

But there are some other ways to use toothpaste that will make our lives easier. Toothpaste has a wide range of cosmetic, healing and cleaning benefits. Make sure you use only white toothpaste and not the teeth-whitening or gel varieties.

  • Get Rid of Acne and Pimples

Toothpaste dehydrates pimples or acne and also absorbs the excess sebum, one of the main causes of skin breakouts. Clean your face before applying a small amount of toothpaste on the acne prior to going to bed. Rinse off in the morning and repeat each day for a few days. If you have sensitive skin, leave the toothpaste on your face only for 20 minutes.

  • Soothes Minor Burns

For minor burns caused by hot water, touching a hot pan or cooking something, white toothpaste offers immediate pain relief, preventing the clogging of the burned area. Apply cold water to the affected area and then dab a small quantity of toothpaste onto the burn. Do not use it on open wounds.

  • Treats Insect Bites and Stings

Insect bites can cause swelling, redness, itching, pain and inflammation of the area. Toothpaste neutralizes the acidic venom, reducing the swelling and pain. Apply on the bite and let it sit for a few hours. Rinse with water and repeat if needed.

  • Whitens Yellow and Stained Nails

Apply a small quantity of toothpaste on the nails and let it sit for 10 minutes. Use a soft nail brush to scrub your nails, then wipe off the toothpaste. Repeat the process three times a week.

  • Heals Foot Blisters

That small, fluid-filled bump can make walking really difficult. But the baking soda, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and menthol from the toothpaste can help foot blisters heal much faster. Apply a small amount on the blister and leave it for at least two hours.  Wash off with a damp washcloth and apply some petroleum jelly.

  • Cleans Foggy Headlights and Bathroom Mirrors

Toothpaste can be used as an abrasive plastic and glass polish, removing fogginess and adding a new shine to the headlights or mirror. Clean the foggy mirror with a cloth and spray with water. Dam toothpaste on the object and gently rub it all over with a soft toothbrush. Wipe off with a wet cloth.

  • Polishes Silver Items

With time, silver items become gray and dull. Mix equal amounts of toothpaste and table salt and add some lemon juice. Apply this paste on the silver items or jewelry using a toothbrush and scrub them gently with circular motions. Rinse the paste off with water.

  • Cleans Your Iron

If your iron plate leaves black marks on your clothes, then it’s time to have it cleaned. Apply some toothpaste and scrub the surface using a dry rough cloth. Let it sit for five minutes, then scrub again with a toothbrush. Wipe off using a slightly damp cloth.

As you can see, toothpaste has some unusual benefits that you could definitely use in your home and make your life easier.
