Home Remedies for Dry Skin Around Your Eyes
Having dry skin around the eyes is not something rare, yet it can create severe and unpleasant situations. The skin can be flaking and itchy, sometimes as a result of conditions like eczema and psoriasis, which will leave visible unwanted red marks in the area.
Luckily, there are several home remedies that can help you find relief from the problem. These are an excellent first choice as they are cheap, easy to find and provide no side effects. However, if your dry skin around the eyes persists or comes as a result of other skin conditions, we recommend that you consult a doctor. With that being said, here are a few home remedies for this issue.
Contents
Coconut Oil
This versatile oil is often used for a variety of skin problems, due to the several benefits that it brings. First of all, it is an excellent moisturizer that can be absorbed deep into the skin, leaving it well hydrated, yet not greasy.
Second of all, it has powerful anti-bacterial properties, ensuring that the area is safe from harmful agents.
Simply apply a small amount around your eyes several times a day and right before bed.
Cocoa Butter
This ingredient can be extremely useful in your battle against dry skin, as it can provide it with high moisture that leads to a reduction in symptoms such as unwanted look, itchiness, and scaliness.
In order to use it, it is recommended that you mix it with oils suited for massage. Some examples would be jojoba or castor oil. Apply it once a day and let it act for at least 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
For maximum effect, you can also use it in combination with coconut oil. Mix 2 teaspoons of cocoa butter with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and have them melt. Add 1 teaspoon of almond oil afterwards and let it harden naturally, then whip it for a few minutes. Apply it following the steps described earlier.
Aloe Vera
This plant is so often used when it comes to skin problems, that it should not be a surprise to see it here. Its gel moisturizes the skin, bringing it to a healthier state, while the antimicrobial properties ensure that some of the causes of dryness can be fought as well.
The most effective form of this plant is its pure gel, which you can easily scoop yourself from a leaf. Alternatively, it can be bought from most herbal shops. Simply apply a small amount around your eyes and let it be absorbed into the skin.
Various natural oils
There are several natural oils that can provide the necessary moisture to your skin: sweet almond, jojoba, and avocado oil are a few of the best ones.
As you can see, these solutions are quite simple, yet can provide great relief against dry skin. It’s worth mentioning again that you should consult a doctor if it persists, as it can be a sign of other skin conditions that you may not be aware of.
