Cabbage Juice: Treating Ulcers the Natural Way
A stomach ulcer is a painful sore that can form along the lining of your stomach and small intestine. Many factors can cause a stomach ulcer: stress, smoking or even abuse of anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or aspirin. Furthermore, most treatments for stomach ulcers can cause more problems than they cure.
Thankfully, the solution for stomach ulcers doesn’t reside only in conventional medicine. You can find it in none other than your plain old cabbage juice.

Ulcer Treatments: This is Where it Gets Bad
There are four main treatments that are used to heal your ulcer, each of them coming with nasty side effects. This is why you need to be wary with how you choose to treat yourself.
- Antibiotics: These are usually prescribed if the ulcer is caused by bacterial infections. But while it may treat one tiny ulcer, it may bring with it a storm of diarrhea, feelings of sickness and weakness and a metallic taste in the mouth.
- PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitors): These are used to reduce the acids in your stomach so that the ulcer doesn’t spread as it’s trying to heal. But on the other hand, it can cause a feeling of weakness and sickness, constipation, headaches, rashes, dizziness and, ironically, stomach pain. You can’t trust any medicine nowadays.
- Alginates and Antacids: Used to lower stomach acid, these are usually prescribed by doctors since they have immediate effects. But it can also bring immediate side effects such as flatulence, constipation, feelings of weakness and sickness, and, guess what, stomach cramps.
- H2-Receptor Antagonists: Similar to antacids, alginates, and PPIs, they also work in lowering the amount of acids in your stomach. Other inconvenient side effects could be diarrhea, dizziness, headaches, exhaustion and rashes.
Some doctors prescribe non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, but they are not really preferred since they can actually CAUSE ulcers if they are used for a longer time.
Cabbage Juice: Even Easier to Make
Forget about all these dangerous side effects. And forget about complicated recipes that take a lot of time to prepare as well. Cabbage juice only needs two ingredients, and it’s side-effect free! You will need:
- 3 cups chopped green cabbage
- 1 and ¾ cup water
Take out your large blender and add the cabbage and water in it. Make sure that you only fill it about 2/3, so that it can blend smoothly. Set the blender at a low speed for about one or two minutes, and mix until the result is a tinted green with random chunks of cabbage floating around. Blend for 10 seconds at high speed and your drink will be ready to be stored.
Place the juice in a jar and seal the top with a lid or a wrap + rubber band. Let it sit for about 3 days at room temperature so that it ferments, giving the juice its digestive properties. After it ferments, strain the liquid through a clean cheesecloth and place it into a separate container.
And there you go; a natural alternative to stomach ulcer remedies! Drink this, and your ulcer will go away four times faster than when using drugstore medicine.
