Honey Based Treatments for Dry Hair

Just like any other organ from our body, our hair needs proper care. There are many home remedies that will help it look thicker, shiny and more voluminous. Honey makes a perfect base for hair natural treatments, due to its humectant property that attracts moisture. It’s also loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that feed damaged hair follicles and encourages hair growth.


Natural treatments for hair straightening

1. Just Honey

This recipe contains just honey and water, nothing extra added or needed!


-1/4 cup of organic raw honey
-Fresh water


Mix ¼ cup of organic raw honey with just enough fresh water to thin it out. Your mixtures has to speard all a round your hair.  Make as much as you need, depending on how much hair you have. When you’re done, apply as you would any regular shampoo to damp hair and let it sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with some warm water.

 2. Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey

Apple cider vinegar leaves hair looking shinny and is great to use as a natural conditioner as well.


-1/4 cup of organic raw honey
-10 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar


Mix together honey and the apple cider vinegar. Apply the mixture on your hair and  again let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse out the mixture with warm water.

 3. Honey and Olive Oil

Olive oil is a must when it comes to  moisture. Using this oil will promote a health looking hair and scalp. This is also great if your want to smooth dry hair shafts.


-1/2 cup of honey
-1/4 cup of olive oil


Mix together ½ cup of honey and ¼ cup of olive oil and then warm up the mixture. Apply all over the hair or topically. Let the mixture sit for 20-30 minutes and then use warm water to rinse it off.

 4. Honey and Coconut Oil

Coconut oil just like olive oil, promotes moisturized hair. It also adds more shine and it’s packed of nutrients that make it an automatic go to ingredient in all hair treatments.


-1/4 cup of honey
-3 tablespoons of warmed coconut oil


Combine coconut oil and honey and blend thoroughly. Work into damp hair as you would shampoo. Let sit for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

 Useful Tips

-Opt for raw organic honey

-Try adding honey to your regular shampoo or even conditioner if you don’t have time to apply these masks

-Avoid harsh products and heat. This will further damage your hair.

-Be aware of the type of hair that you have. Applying olive oil and honey if you have thin hair that is prone to getting

-Apply these natural treatment twice a week if you wish to see results.

-Patience is a virtue!. Applying honey to dry hair is not going to restore it to perfect condition in a blink of an eye. Natural treatments take time.
