Cell Phones Make Us Sick

Cell phones are essential for us, and mobile devices have become very popular all over the world. We all know that our addiction to cell phones is affecting our health, but are we really aware of the damages we inflict upon ourselves?

  • Sleep

The light that comes from mobile devices can affect your circadian rhythm, prompting the production of hormones that keep your body alert. Also, the mobile vibrations and rings can also get you awakened in the middle of the night, leading to stress and sleep disorders.

Sleep disorders and sleeplessness are the main causes of metabolic syndrome, leading to diabetes, obesity, hypertension, high triglyceride levels and elevated levels of bad cholesterol.

  • Infections

We use mobile phones everywhere, on the train or metro, in the hospital, resting room, at the gym, and this makes them highly contaminated with dangerous bacteria, such as E-coli. You should always disinfect your cell phone, this way avoiding the spread of bacteria and germs to yourself and others.

  • Heart Problems

The electromagnetic energy coming from cell phones weakens cell membranes and causes oxidation. Recent studies show that radiation emitted by mobile devices causes heart irregularities and high blood pressure and for the people suffering from ischemic heart disease, it can alter the electrocardiographic activity. Make sure you do not keep your phone in the front pocket of your shirt.

  • Reproductive Health

Cells phone radiation also negatively affects reproductive health, playing an important role in male infertility. High cell phone use leads to decreased sperm concentration, viability, normal morphology, and motility.

  • Stress

Are you constantly checking you phone? This might increase you stress level, together with the vibrating alerts, constant ringing, and reminders. Studies also showed that excessive cell phone use might be a cause for mental health issues in young adults, such as anxiety and depression.

  • Hearing

Hearing can also be impaired by the harmful radiations which can damage the fragile tissues of the inner ear. If, while using your phone, you notice symptoms such as ear fullness, warmth or ringing in the ear, your hearing has already started to be affected by the radiation. Try to use the speaker when talking to someone or for longer conversations use a landline.

  • Poor Vision

Over exposure to the cell phones’ blue light screen puts you at risk of developing macular degeneration and early cataract. Because the screen of a cell phone is smaller than the desktop of a laptop, you will involuntarily strain your eyes and squint to see the small writing and also bring the device too close to your eyes. Have your eyes checked regularly and do not use your cell phone for prolonged periods of time.

  • Spinal Misalignment and Pain

Do you have the habit of holding your cell phone between your head and your shoulder? Do you tilt downward when you look at your phone? In time, this can affect your spine and posture and lead to back and neck pain.

  • Accident Risk

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, using a cell phone while driving quadruples the crash risk. A mobile phone is a manual, visual and mental distraction, even when you use the hands-free device. Restrain from using the cell phone while driving. If you have to take a call or send a text, pull over.

Prolonged use of cell phones can even lead to brain cancer. To decrease the level of radiations entering your body, try looking for EMF protective clothing for your phone.
