Contents
The non-stop sneezing “sessions” happen to all of us. They are not something extremely serious, but if they last for too long, they might cause lack of breath and you could need to make a visit to the hospital. Sneezing is in fact an irritation and it can be caused by congested nose, contact with mold or pollen, allergies, drugs, pregnancy, cold weather or excessive sweating. The best ways to prevent sneezing are by always keeping your hands clean, boosting your immunity levels and staying away from the allergy factors. There are also a few home remedies that can help you deal with sneezing.
Eucalyptus Oil
If the sneezing is caused by dust allergy or congested nose, then you can effectively make use of eucalyptus oil. Use a handkerchief to pour some eucalyptus oil drops. Sniff it until you feel that the nasal passages are clear. This will ease out the sneezing. This is also a great remedy for cold.
Fenugreek Seeds
These seeds have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic properties and can be a cure for sinusitis and the sneezing caused by this condition. Prepare a tea with roasted fenugreek seeds and drink it daily until your notice any improvement. Fenugreek tea can be bitter, so you may want to add some honey.
Fennel Seeds
If the sneezing is caused by an upper respiratory tract infection, then use fennel seeds. They have anti-histaminic, antiseptic and antibiotic qualities and can immediately cure the infection. Brew some ginger with roasted fennel seeds and at the end add some honey. Sip the tea slowly and repeat the remedy for a couple of days.
Ginger
There is nothing better than ginger to deal with a congested nose. At the same time, this beneficial herb reduces the sneezing episodes. You can consume the ginger raw or prepare a concoction with some honey. The anti-histaminic properties of this root will ease sneezing and will also prevent the contracting of the airways. A hot ginger tea will also help you get rid of the sneezing episodes. It also cures the sore throat and the colds. Another effective ginger remedy involves mixing cinnamon tea (one pinch) with crushed cardamom seeds (2), black pepper powder (1/2 tablespoon) and dried ginger powder (1/2 tablespoon). Add honey or jaggery and drink it while it’s still warm to get relief from a runny nose and sneezing.
Petroleum Jelly
This remedy is beneficial for both children and adults. Wash your hands and after that apply a dab of petroleum jelly inside your nasal passages. The dried passages will be moisturized and the sneezing will be prevented.
Tamarind
This is yet another effective remedy. Make a soup with black pepper and tamarind and consume it to combat sneezing and cold. Take a small piece of tamarind and soak it in warm water. Leave it there for 30 minutes. After that, extract the liquid and mix it with turmeric powder (1/2 tablespoon), water (2 cups), rock salt, black pepper powder (1 tablespoon) and curry leaves (12). Boil the entire mixture and let it steep for 15 minutes. Consume this concoction several times per day to get immediate relief from sneezing.
