Snoring – A Sleep Disorder That Can Be Controlled

Snoring is a problem that affects numerous people, both women and men, from all around the world. When you sleep, the structures in your throat relax, but when they start vibrating, that’s when snoring occurs. This problem is a sleep disorder and if it’s really serious, it can have social and medical consequences. Snoring can affect both your sleep and the sleep of your partner and it can be quite difficult to get rid of it. However, by using certain home remedies and by changing your lifestyle, you can definitely control it.

Turmeric

The turmeric is an antibiotic and antiseptic agent and it is effective in reducing heavy snoring and treating any inflammation. Mix a cup of warm milk with turmeric powder (2 teaspoons) and drink the solution half an hour before bedtime. Repeat the remedy every day to breathe freely and get rid of snoring.

Cardamom

This herb is both a decongestant and an expectorant and it is effective in unclogging the nasal passages. As a result, you will snore less. Mix warm water with cardamom powder (1/2 teaspoon) and drink the beverage half an hour before going to sleep. Repeat the treatment every day, until you will be able to reduce snoring.

Garlic

Garlic is effective in reducing the mucus build-up and clearing the nasal passages. Also, it reduces the inflammation inside the respiratory system and unblocks the sinus. So, use 2 garlic cloves and chew them before bedtime. After that, you can drink a cup of water. By doing so, your sleep will be better and your snoring will be reduced. Also, make sure that your dinners contain garlic in them.

Chamomile

This plant comes with anti-inflammatory properties and will stop snoring. It also relaxes the nerves and the muscles in the throat and thus, it will reduce the snoring. Prepare a chamomile tea and drink it with honey just before bedtime to get immediate relief. Drink it while it’s still warm.

Honey

If you are a snorer, you can also make use of honey. This bee product has anti-inflammatory effects and reduces the throat swelling that usually obstructs the airways. Moreover, honey will lubricate the throat and thus, you will get rid of the snoring vibrations. Mix a cup of warm water with honey (1 tablespoon) and drink the solution before going to bed. Repeat the remedy every day. At the same time, you can sweeten every herbal tea with honey and consume it after having dinner.

Nettle

Snoring can also be caused by the seasonal allergies that inflame the nasal passages. In this situation, you can use nettle, a plant with antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Boil a cup of water and add dried nettle leaves (1 tablespoon). Steep for 5 minutes and after straining it, you can drink before going to sleep. Drink it warm. Throughout the allergy season, you can drink nettle leaf tea on a daily basis, up to 3 cups per day.

Snoring can also be controlled with other home remedies, including steam, olive oil and peppermint.
