Every once in a while, you are bound to have a restless night when you continuously toss and turn. You keep worrying that you can’t fall asleep, and before you know it, the first sun rays are already peeking through your curtains. Thankfully, you won’t have to go to any extreme measures to get some sleep; just some tea will be enough. And not any kind of tea, but some delicious banana tea.
Fighting Against Insomnia
There are various reasons that can cause insomnia. It can be depression, anxiety or simply stress. And each night, your brain seems to be set for going into overdrive. As you lay there, trying to fall asleep, your mind becomes open because it is no longer working on anything. This causes you to place your full attention to random thoughts that simply do not want to let you sleep in peace.
Insomnia can also be caused by various sleeping pills. Usually, blood pressure medicine, painkillers, and antihistamines can cause you to lose sleep. At first, some of these medicines can make you feel sleepy, but you’ll find yourself waking up for bathroom trips or simply wake up in the middle of the night realizing that you can’t sleep. This can be a big problem in the long run because your body can’t function properly if it is sleep deprived. So whether you have one of the above problems or you just decide on “one more episode,” something has to change.
How to Make Banana Tea
You can make some banana tea with items you may already have in your kitchen. This tea not only tastes good but will also work wonders on your sleeping cycle. Bananas (peels especially) are loaded with magnesium and potassium. These two will help relax your muscles, including that overly active one residing in your head.
You should keep in mind that in order for this recipe to work, your bananas need to be organic. The non-organic ones are sprayed with pesticides that are harmful if you want to consume the peel as well.
It takes no longer than 10 minutes to prepare this tea, which makes it even more enjoyable if you want to relax during the evening. You will need:
- 1 banana (organic)
- 1 small pot of water
- 1 (optional) dash of cinnamon
Just boil the banana. All of it. Cut off just the ends, peel it and drop it all into the boiling water. Boil it for about 10 minutes and afterwards, sprinkle a dash of cinnamon over it. Drink this one hour before you go to sleep and you will not only have a natural sleeping remedy, but a delicious dessert as well.
This tea will be a healthy alternative to sleeping pills which can come with various side effects. If you still seem to have problems sleeping every night, you should also consider paying a visit to your doctor, to see what the problem is.
