Why papaya?
One of the most famous attributes of this fruit is its anti-inflammatory propriety. If you are dealing with acne, you know almost every treatment used for this issue has to reduce the inflammation. Well, this is exactly what papaya does, but without the side effects. The fruit reduces swelling and redness, inhibiting the breakouts.
Papaya is also well-known for its antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral proprieties. Due to this, the fruit fights the cause of acne, killing the bacteria which trigger the blemishes and breakouts.
Furthermore, it also exfoliates the skin, removing the dead cells and unclogging the pores. This way, your skin is softer and less susceptible to develop acne.
Vitamin B and C promote healthy skin, as they regulate the production of sebum and help the cells to regenerate.
Your skin will also be rejuvenated by the beta-carotene contained in papaya, which also improves the appearance of scars and dark spots.
Lycopene is another essential ingredient of papaya, which is a powerful antioxidant. Besides hormonal imbalance and bacteria, free radicals can also lead to blemishes and skin issues, but lycopene neutralizes their action.
How to use it
Indeed, one of the best ways to use papaya is to include it in your diet. This way, your entire body will benefit from its excellent proprieties and nutrients, but you can also use it directly on the affected area, as an ingredient for face masks.

Cut a few chunks of papaya and blend them until they become smooth. After you have cleansed your face first, apply the mask. Then, after 20-30 minutes, rinse your face with lukewarm water. If your skin is sensitive, you are also advised to use moisturizer. You can use this mask daily.
- Papaya and Lemon
Take 5-6 fresh papaya chunks and put them in a blender, and mix until you get a smooth texture. Then, add ½ teaspoon of lemon juice and mix once again. With a cotton pad, apply the mask on your skin and then allow it enough time to dry. Once dried, wash your face with lukewarm water.
- Papaya and Honey
For this mask, make sure you have some organic honey. Put two teaspoons of raw honey and 4-5 papaya chunks in a blender. Mix and then apply the paste on your skin. Leave it on for 35-45 minutes, and then rinse your face with lukewarm water. You can repeat the action daily.
