5 Homemade Hair Conditioners

Our hair can get dry because of weather conditions, excessive washing or lack of vitamins in our body. Even though we must have a healthy diet so as to have glowing hair and skin, we can also apply topical treatments to make our hair look gorgeous. There are numerous natural ingredients out there that can be great as hair conditioners. They will help you save money and they are much healthier than the conditioners sold at the drug stores. Just take a look at the homemade recipes below.

Homemade Hair Conditioners

1. Avocado Conditioner

For this recipe, you will need three drops of rosemary or lavender essential oil, half of teaspoon of olive oil and half of mashed avocado. Mix all the ingredients and then apply the paste to your hair. Focus especially on the ends. Leave it on your hair for almost 10 minutes and then rinse it with warm water. After a few uses, you will notice that your hair will be softer and smoother.

2. Oil-based Conditioner

Coconut, olive or jojoba oils are well-known for their moisturizing properties. Use a few drops of any of these oils and mix with an essential oil that you like most or with an herb mixture. Before using it, warm the oil and once you’ve finished the mixture, you can dampen the hair and massage the scalp with the oil. Use a towel or even a plastic bag to cover your hair and sit near a heat source to facilitate the process. The oil must be left on your hair for up to 2 hours. After that, shampoo your hair as normal and rinse.

3. Honey Conditioner

This homemade conditioner smells stupendous and it also has fantastic healthy properties. Use one half cup of honey and mix it with 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Combine them in a small bowl until the oil is integrated. Shake the mixture before using it and massage your hair and scalp gently. Leave the conditioner on for almost half an hour, but no more than an hour and then shampoo it and rinse it as usual. Honey will make your hair look more glamorous and glowing and it’s a great remedy for dry hair.

4. Coconut Milk Conditioner

Coconut is such a great fruit, offering us various ways of using it. We’ve talked about the coconut oil, but the coconut milk also has its benefits. So, include coconut oil (2 tablespoons), coconut milk (1 cup) and 1 avocado in this recipe. Mash the avocado after peeling it and add the other 2 ingredients. Apply it all over your hair and leave it cure for up to 15 minutes. Shampoo your hair after conditioning.

5. Shea Butter Conditioner

Shea butter is able to reconstruct even the driest hair, making it feel beautiful and thick. However, be careful as it might be a bit too greasy for the oily hair. So, use fragrance oil (half an ounce), vitamin E oil (1 teaspoon), olive oil (half a cup) and Shea butter (one cup and a third). The Shea butter must be heated before using it. After that, you can add all the ingredients and once the mixture has cooled down you can apply it directly on your hair. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse.
