Stay Away from these FOODS! They can cause ANXIETY

Anxiety is not a disorder to laugh at. It is one of the most frequent mental illnesses in the world. However, many persons choose not to take this disorder seriously. But those who do are usually given medication. The bad part about these drugs is that they contain chemicals that can trigger insomnia, depression or even death in some cases. Scientific research revealed that anxiety is also connected to what we eat. It is mostly about the nutrients in foods that maintain our mental health. Some foods are so dangerous, that their consumption can bring us mental instability. So beware of these aliments!

food causing anxiety

Sugar

Sugar can damage brain activity. If the brain doesn’t work at its maximum level, it can trigger symptoms of anxiety. The attacks are completely awful! You can experience a feeling of fright, desperation and losing control of yourself. And all you can do is stand there and feel helpless. Do you still want to put two teaspoons of sugar in your tea now? Anyway, you can’t completely avoid sugar because it’s present in almost every food. But you can reduce your daily intake, that is for sure.

Processed Food

Recent studies have revealed that too many processed foods can have an appalling effect on anxiety levels. Not only that they increase the risks of anxiety, but they also promote depression. Most of the processed foods contain high fructose corn syrup, that affects our stress levels. We already live in a stressful world, why add our own contribution?

Coffee

Some people feel like they just can’t survive without coffee. This beverage has its benefits but what happens when you cross the line? Caffeine is a stimulant which keeps our bodies alert. Too much coffee can increase anxiety, due to the body’s “fight or flight” response. But don’t worry! If you don’t drink more than 500 milligrams of caffeine per day, you will be fine.

Salt

Too much salt enhances blood pressure, which makes the heart beat faster and pump harder. In that moment, our bodies discharge adrenaline, one of the most known stress hormones. From here to anxiety there is no more than a quick step. Avoid spicing your food with too many condiments, eat less salt-filled food and, once again, stay away from processed foods.

Alcohol

When people are stressed out, they usually go for a drink. Unfortunately, alcohol doesn’t calm down people. It makes the problem even worse. Why? Because the levels of serotonin in the brain change when alcohol is ingested. Once the effects of the alcohol disappear, you will feel more and more anxious. If you want to keep it simple and calm, one beer or one glass of wine will do.

Suffering from a mental issue is never easy. It would be a shame if you wouldn’t prevent anxiety knowing that you could. Try to eat healthier and do some exercises! Calm down through meditation and your diet will help you from there. You know what they say: “Better be safe than sorry!”
